It wasn’t that long ago that the Minnesota Vikings were on the verge of a Super Bowl appearance, something the team hasn’t done since 1976. That was in the 2009 NFC Championship Game and with quarterback Brett Favre at the helm. But it wasn’t mean to be and the following two years were rough in the Twin Cities as the Vikings combined for just nine wins from 2010-11.  But Leslie Frazier’s club was one of the bigger surprises of the 2012 NFL season, winning 10 games and grabbing a playoff berth.

In 2012 for the first time since 2006, the league’s Most Valuable Player award went to a position other than a quarterback and with good reason. Vikings’ running back Adrian Peterson rushed for 2,097 yards, the second-highest single-season total in NFL history, and was a big catalyst to the team’s playoff run. Second-year quarterback Christian Ponder was erratic at times but was missing wideout Percy Harvin for most of the season. But promising tight end Kyle Rudolph caught 53 passes, nine for touchdowns.

In 2013 while the Vikings fell short to the Packers in the NFC Wild Card Game, getting to the playoffs was a major plus. But now expectations will be raised for the team. With Harvin dealt to Seattle, Minnesota is hoping Greg Jennings (Packers) can more than fill the void at wide receiver. The team also brought in veteran quarterback Matt Cassel (Chiefs) for depth (or more) behind Ponder. They came 4th in NFC North Divisional place and their overall record was 5-10-1. They did not qualify for the playoffs in 2013.

In 2014 it was first season under Coach Mike Zimmer. Despite the defeat from the Detroit Lions in week 15 which eliminated them from postseason contention, they improved their 5-10-1 record. They had one of the worst defenses in the league that season and might be in history of Vikings. See Vikings perform this season by booking your Cheap Minnesota Viking tickets now from Askaticket.
