The Vancouver Canucks joined NFL in 1970, but was founded in 1945. The team was part of PCHL from 1945-1952, after that they joined WHL till 1970. After the merger of WHL-NHL, the Canucks joined NHL as an expansion team. In 2013-2014 Vancouver Canucks played their 44th season for the National Hockey League, under new Head Coach John Tortorella, but from Jan, 19 to Feb, 2, Mike Sullivan was interim coach. The General Manager Mike Gillis was also fired on April, 8. They were on fifth position of Pacific Division and they positioned twelfth in the Western Conference. The Canucks five year playoff streak ended as they could not make it to playoffs. Their season record at the end was 36-35-11 and their home was 20-15-6. The average attendance in 39 games was 19,814.
In 2014-2015 which was Vancouver Canucks 45th season. The new general manager that Canucks hired was Jim Benning. Despite the fact that John Tortorella and Mike Sullivan were recently hired, they were fired by the Canucks. Hunt for new head coach started and Benning wanted Willie Desjardins to take this position, who was head coach of Texas Star, but finally he was able to seal the deal and Canucks hired Willie Desjardins as their new Head Coach. They came to 2nd position of Pacific Division and on 5th position in Western Conference. Their season record was 48-29-5 and home record was 24-15-2.
